Vastu for Pooja Room

The nature has already gifted us with so many things and we will not need to make much efforts if can learn the art of using making optimum use these nature's gifts. And, there need to be a balanced maintained between what we do and what is the need of the nature. Vastu teaches the same that is "to maintain that much needed balance". It teaches us to be mindful and follow certain principles which can stun you with the results with the least investments.

Many people do not build a Puja room in their homes and the give the reason as the lack of space. But it is one of the most dangerous things to avoid making Puja room! God is the member of every family that exists in this Universe and there should be separate room where people can bow down their heads. Having a Puja room in home keeps people charged with a lot of energy thereby making mind, body and the soul filled with plethora of positive energy. This will obviously make us more efficient and we would be able to perform lot more task and eventually happiness and prosperity will be flowing.

It is required to take utmost care while building this portion of the home where Puja room is going to be placed. Because it will be the place where you will be doing meditation and it is important that the surrounding spreads most energy. If that surrounding is not positive you will not get most out the meditation that you will be doing.

Following directions should be taken care of while deciding the location of the Puja room….

  • Entrance's direction
  • Direction in which windows should be placed
  • Direction in which God's idols should be kept
  • Direction in which Puja items should be placed
  • Taking care of the color of the room

Some tips on Vastu that must be followed while building a Puja room in your home.

  • Vastu suggests that the Puja room be built in the East, North or Northeast side of the home.
  • It should be built in such a way that while one worships he/she faces North or East direction.
  • Although, there should not be any idol in the Puja room but if there is one, it should not have a height only between 2 and 9.
  • Vastu advises to have the Agnikund meant for offering Puja to the Lord of fire, should be in the Southeast direction. It should be such that when one prays fire he/she faces towards East.
  • Make sure that the idols are placed such that whenever you worship the legs of the idol comes till your chest, irrespective of your position.
  • One should only use copper vessels in the Puja room and particularly for collecting water for Puja.
  • You should not store anything on the shelf where the Lord's idols have been placed.
  • Vastu prohibits entering the Puja room without washing off the hands and legs in any case. Cleaning should be done only done by left hand while the right hand should be used to pour in water. You cannot rub your hands or legs for the purpose of cleaning them. Clean the rear of the legs first, Vastu suggests.
  • One should never ever build a Puja room in bedroom or on a wall that adjacent to any of the walls of the bathroom.
  • Never ever make any triangle-shaped God in your Puja room.
  • Vastu suggest keeping the lamp stand in the Southeast of the room.
  • Windows and doors should be in the Northeast.
  • Recommended colours for the Puja room are light blue, lemon and white and the color of the marbles used must be white.
  • When you are having you meal, the plate must face the South-East direction.
  • Any depiction of picture should not be place in the place where or work.
  • Particularly, the North-East of any room should be kept clean and clutter free.
  • Try keeping the electrical appliances or heat appliances in the South-East corner of the room.
  • Puja room, kitchen and toilet, should not be constructed adjacent to each other.
  • Kitchen should not directly face the main entrance of the house.
  • Avoid keeping broken mirrors, electrical gadgets or watches in your home.
  • Wash basins, Sink, taps and mirrors must be built in the North East corner of the home.
  • It is advantageous, if the safe opens up in the East or North direction and that calculates that ir should built in the East or North direction.
  • Make sure that, there isn't any garbage or boulders in front of the main gate of house or office.
  • One should take care of the fact that there are more windows and doors on the ground floor than on the upper floors.
